Tag 7: 26.07.2017 Fische füttern auf dem Atlantik
Position: 45° 30.4’ N, 61° 12.6’ W
Wetter: 22° C, strahlend blauer Himmel, morgens kaum Wind, nachmittags viel Wind
Um bis 1100 an den Canso-Kanal zu gelangen, fuhren wir die halbe Nacht mit dem Motor. Es stellte sich heraus, dass dies die beste Zeit des Tages war, denn wir kamen in Rekordgeschwindigkeit durch die Schleuse mit drehbarer Brücke, an der das halbe Dorf stand, um der Alex beim Passieren zu zusehen.
Durch den Kanal gelangten wir vom Golf von Gaspé in den Atlantik, der uns mit Meeresschildkröten und einer Gruppe von Walen empfing. Wir hatten so viel Glück, dass wir sogar einen springenden Buckelwal sehen und fotografieren konnten. Wie es sich für den Atlantik gehört, gab es auch zum ersten Mal auf unserem Törn heftigen Seegang, der nicht allen gut bekam.
So kam es, dass einige Crewmitglieder den Fisch vom Mittagessen nutzten, um die Fische im Ozean zu füttern. Da die Nacht wolkenlos war, hatte jede Wache die Möglichkeit, ihre Schicht mit Sternschnuppen-zählen zu verbringen.

Day 7: 26/07/2017 Feed fishes at the Atlantic
Position: 45° 30.4’ N, 61° 12.6’ W
Weather: 22° C, clear blue sky, quit windy
We traveled most of the night under engine to reach the Canso-Canal by 1100. As it turned out, this was the best time to pass as we had little to no waiting time.
Many people had gathered at the lock with a rotatable bridge to watch the Alex pass.
We left the Gulf of Gaspé through the canal and entered the Atlantic. There we were greeted by turtles and a group of whales. We were even lucky enough to spot and photograph a jumping humpback whale. The Atlantic also greeted us with appropriate waves, which claimed several victims.
Therefore, the fish in the water were fed by the fish that some crewmembers had for lunch. Due to a clear night sky, all watches enjoyed a beautiful sky and counted shooting stars.
